What is CHD?

blood pressure monitor

Coronary heart disease (CHD for short) describes a condition where the blood flow to the muscles of the heart is compromised because the blood vessels supplying these muscles are narrowed due to fatty deposits. CHD results in angina and heart attack and is a major cause of death in this country.

CHD is dependent on anumber of factors including obesity, blood pressure, smoking, blood cholesterol and so on. It is important for people with CHD to learn how to modify these factors and keep to themselves as healthy as possible.

The CHD clinic is a nurse-led clinic for CHD patients where they can receive regular health checks, have opportunities to discuss their condition and have their medications reviewed.
